The Safety Clip fits between the stirrup iron and the stirrup leather, and releases the stirrup should the rider’s foot become trapped during a fall, thus preventing the rider from being dragged.

During a fall, the change of the angle of the rider's foot will mean that with the pressure, the clip will release the stirrup from the stirrup leather.
